Getting Around
There is no international airport; visitors fly into the neighboring island of São Vicente and take a one-hour ferry to Porto Novo. On the island, transport is dominated by shared 'aluguers' (minibusses or pickup trucks), which are used to travel between towns and to trailheads.
Local Flavors
Cuisine is based on fresh, local ingredients. The national dish, Cachupa (a slow-cooked stew of corn and beans), is a must-try. Fresh fish, goat cheese, and tropical fruits are also abundant.
